WHO WE ARE

It starts with movement.

"Before the gospel could sink roots into the soil of an un-reached land, someone had to go. Before a doctor could pull a boy’s life from the jaws of malaria, someone had to go. Before an orphan could finally feel the warmth of a human embrace, someone had to go. There are lots of ways to do good. We believe none are as bold and none echo as loudly as God’s call on the church to go, to be physically present amid the heartbreak of our world and bring hope."

Azar Ministry exist to help the church live out this call. We do this by serving the body of Christ all around the world. Our passion is to help and serve God by serving others.

Azar was founded by Errol Zimmerman on February 2016. It started after Errol went on a short-term mission trip to the Dominican Republic. There, Errol came to see the need for better encouragement and cooperation among the body of Christ as stated by Paul in Romans 1:11-12.

I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong—  that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.

OUR NAME

The name "Azar" is an interesting title indeed. However, the name Azar is a biblical name of Hebrew origin. Its meaning is to help, protect, support, serve, and give encouragement. Azar is pronounced aw-zar'.

One example of "azar" can be found in Psalm 54:4 "Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life." Similarly, azar is sometimes compounded with the names of God "El" and "Yah", to form names such as Azriel (my help is God) and Azariah (The Lord has helped).

We have chosen this name because we think it truly represents what we are about; that is to help, care for and encourage others in the body of Christ, especially missionaries.

WHAT WE DO

We support and partner with all Christians, organizations and local churches involved in in the missionary field. We strive to accomplish this in these four ways:

Preparing and Sending Mission Workers

We analyze the needs, recruit and train potential workers to go and give support to the missionaries, whatever that may be.

We desire to motivate brothers and sisters to get involved in mission work by giving support or going themselves.

Hospitality

Rest is important; thus we seek to provide housing, transportation, and fellowship so that missionaries can rejuvenate themselves.

We also desire to be able to help in providing housing for missionaries returning from the mission field.

Short Term Mission

We also organize short term mission trips to different countries to visit missionaries.

These trips are to serve the missionaries with any projects they might have and also to provide companionship. Sometimes the best thing you can do for a missionary is to just visit and encourage them to keep up the good work.

Contact with Missionaries

The contact team is responsible for giving attention to the emotional, spiritual and physical needs the missionary might have while on and off the mission field.
